M&M Party

If there is one thing that my daughter likes, it is candy. If there is one candy that is her favorite, it is hands down M&M’s. So it makes sense why she would have asked for her last birthday party to be M&M theme. Surprisingly when I went to plan what we were going to do for this cool theme she wanted there really weren’t all that many options of items to quickly buy to put a party together. I am going to let you know exactly what it is that I did for this party so that you don’t need to struggle the way that I did.

When you plan a party know that the creativity that you make is going to be special to all of the guests that attend. It leaves a memory that the kids really do remember and think about. It truly is something that is special to see.

I have seen a lot of people do Candy themed parties, but I hadn’t seen M&M alone as the theme, and if you ask my daughter what is her favorite candy she will hands down tell you M&M’s are the winner. BUT, with all that said if you wanted to add other candy aspects to your party you totally could and it would be so much fun as well.

  1. First thing is first you will need invitations!

When you are planning your invite list keep in mind how many kids/parents your space can accommodate. There will be some people that you invite that cannot make it, but you will definitely want to know how many to expect.

Make sure to note any details on the invite that are necessary. (IE. are siblings invited? Is it a pool party? Should the kids come dressed up?) The more details you provide the more prepared your guests will be.

2. M&M Party Decor

This was a little bit more challenging for me than other parties in the past. I think it had a lot to do with the nature of the fact that it was M&M’s alone. There were not a lot of M&M party packs that I could just go out and buy on Amazon, so it took me a little more time.

Some things that I was able to do for this party were;

A balloon garland. (I love a good balloon garland.) I find that balloon garland bring so much color to a room and are a quick way to complete a decor. For these I tried to make the balloons look like M&M’s. To accomplish this I simply used only M&M color balloons and put the M from the M&M font on a few of the balloons.

-Made a 5 foot tall number 3 for the 3 year old birthday. Again I only used the color balloons of M&M’s.

-Made my own M&M’s wherever I could. (For these I simply painted wood pieces the colors of M&M’s and then made sure to put the signature M on it.

-Since it was hard to find the actual M&M themed items, I would use rainbow items where I could. I made sure for streamers to use the traditional M&M colors (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Brown)

-When I could find M&M themed items I would get some. It really helped tie the theme together. (and clearly they were a hit)

-Outfits- I made my girls and Grandparents shirts to match the theme. This was just a cute touch and something my kids love doing.

3. Activities

I have to admit for this party we only had a couple things planned. Mainly because she was only turning 3, and because it was only close friends and family (she was nervous around people at this time), but the fan favorites were;

-Pin the M on the M&M. Click here for a link to purchase.

-Pinata! One thing I have learned about kids from going and hosting parties is that they LOVE a piñata. and it is really a good idea if you need something to take up a little time.

4.Foods

This is a really fun place to get creative and kind of lends itself to also being part of the decorations to an extent. For this party our little lady wanted a GIANT pizza from our local pizza place so I couldn’t get too creative, but you could do so many different things. I had originally thought about doing rainbow items, or doing foods in sections where some would be red, orange, yellow, green, blue, or brown. Honestly there is no right or wrong. We went with pizza and man was that RIGHT.

I am all about making a party easier in any way, so when my kid wanted a giant pizza from the same place we frequent I was all for it.

For the cake… You bet we tried to create a giant M&M filled with M&M’s and even if it wasn’t perfect, it was DELICIOUS!

5. Party Favors

I mentioned before that this wasn’t a really big party, but we did do a small party favor. My kids are OBSESSED with stickers, so we gave out M&M themed stickers and a king sized M&M. For a link to the M&M stickers click here.

6. Have Fun

Enjoy the fun time that you created. It goes by fast! Make sure to take pictures! I never remember to and always wish I had more.
